Kellen Russell

Things have been clicking from the onset of the season for the Sabetha Bluejay boys as they have flew out to a 9-0 record and are currently ranked second in the Class 3A KBCA rankings. The Bluejays continued their winning ways last week topping rival Nemaha Central 58-50 and earning the 58-29 win over Perry Lecompton, also.

Helping lead the way was Kellen Russell who led the team in scoring in both games. Russell led a trio of Bluejays in double figures at home against Nemaha Central, posting 16 points, while adding four rebounds, one assist and two steals to his stat line in the eight point win. Kellen continued his strong play this season against Perry Lecompton by posting his sixth double figure game of the year, notching 14 points, while adding three assists and one steal, also.

The senior has been a steady hand for Bluejays all year helping lead the charge on the floor with his 11.1 ppg, while shooting a blistering 74% from the two-point range (23-31) and hitting 45% of his three-point shots (17-37). On top of that he's helping facilitate the offense too averaging 3.6 apg, while notching 1.9 spg and 1.4 rpg, while taking care of the ball committing only nine turnovers all season.

The Bluejays have their sights set on keeping their season in flight to the postseason with big aspirations for the season, as Russell and company, under the tutelage of Coach Scott Burger look to continue their flight this season on the basketball.
