Jeff West Tiger, Hunter Dean Runs Wild in Big Road Win Over Royal Valley
Hunter Dean

Needing a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive the Jeff West Tigers put together one of their best performances to earn a 35-21 road win over a ranked Royal Valley Panthers team.

Helping lead the charge was junior quarterback, Hunter Dean who has been only able to play in five games this season due to injury but against the Panthers he showed up in a big way. Dean ran wild for 303 yards on 24 carries, busting runs off at a 12.6 yards per carry clip in the matchup, while finding the endzone three times. He added 35 yards passing and 35 yards on kickoff returns to account for 391 all-purpose yards in the victory that pushed Jeff West to 4-3 on the season a 1-1 in District play.

Dean who is transitioning to quarterback this year after playing wideout last year has continually improved throughout the season and on the year in just five games has ran for 742 yards on 75 carries with a 9.9 yard per carry average, while passing for 343 yards.

"He is extremely athletic and has big play capability" said Head Coach Steve Johnson. We ask a lot of our QB in our offense so Hunter has had to learn quickly. "He is a young man that wants to do well for this program and his teammates, which is evident with his commitment to work on areas he lacks experience.”

The Tigers have their sights set on another win and a playoff spot to wrap up the regular season as they take on Perry Lecompton on Friday, October 30th and Dean will be leading the charge with his teammates for Jeff West to punch their ticket to the playoffs.
