Riverside Cyclone, Gage Olivero Leading Teams Hot Start to Football Season

Behind all around solid play the Riverside Cyclones have whirled off two wins to open the season 2-0 with wins over Jeff West and Perry Lecompton.

Leading the charge has been the play of senior Gage Olivero who helped carry the load on offense each game and defensively was key at his linebacker spot. After postponing the game to Saturday Riverside worked past Jeff West 21-14 and Olivero toted the ball 19 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns in the win, while on defense recording 11 tackles including two tackles for loss.

Olivero started the season strong for Riverside as they Cyclones edged Perry Lecompton 19-14 in the season opener 19-14 and Gage posted 169 yards on 21 carries with two touchdowns and made six tackles.

After a strong junior year that included over 900 yards of total offense and 13 touchdowns and Big Seven League first team All-League on both sides of the ball Olivero has busted out early in his senior for the Cyclones notching a 7.9 yards per carry average through the first two games of the season.

Off to a whirlwind start with a pair of wins over fellow League foes Riverside and Olivero will look to continue their strong start over the course of the season the make noise in the Big Seven League and District play.
