Centralia Panther Volleyball Continues Winning Ways With 13th State Title

A winning culture is something built something that took a lot of work to develop and that is what Centralia high school has a winning culture and that culture has manifested many championships over the years. The volleyball team added to the ever growing trophy case again this year with their 13th State title claiming the 1A-DI State crown and finishing the season 44-1.

The Panthers made the State tournament for the sixth straight year and headed into the tournament unbeaten. To start the State competition off Centralia earned a straight set 25-18, 25-15 win over Pretty Prairie and then were faced with a familiar foe in fellow Twin Valley League member, Hanover. The Wildcats got the better of Centralia beating the Panthers 22-25, 23-25 to give Centralia their only loss of the season. Needing a win in the final pool play match to secure a spot in the final four on Saturday at State Centralia took care of business beating LaCrosse in straight sets 25-13, 25-20 to make the Semifinals.

Standing the in the way in the Semifinals was a rematch of last year’s State title match as the Goessel  Bluebirds were the opponent but Centralia was ready and up to the task getting some revenge with a straight set win 25-20, 25-16 to punch their ticket to the Championship.

Waiting in the title match was a date with Hanover for the fourth time this season and looking for another State title and revenge the Panthers pounced early and won the battle of the cats in straight sets 25-13, 25-15 to win their third State title in four years and snagged a Top three finishes at State for the sixth straight year.

The Panthers put together another spectacular season with the State Championship and many other accomplishments over the season like winning their 22nd TVL regular season title, 18th TVL tournament title and winning three other tournaments, while Coach Kimbrook Tennal surpassed 700 career wins while at State (701 wins).

Another season for the record books as the lady Panthers reign supreme again at State volleyball Champs.
