Troy Trojans, Cuttar Huss & Brody Winder Making Big Impacts for Trojans
Cuttar Huss & Brody Winder

It took another strong second half and contributions from all around for the Troy Trojans football team to continue in the 2-1A playoffs topping Lyndon 46-19 in the Sectional round.

Two guys that made a big impact in the win is the senior playmaking duo of Brody Winder and Cuttar Huss who have been both making plays all year and continued that trend against Lyndon. Up only 14-7 in the third quarter Winder intercepted a Lyndon screen pass and returned it 50-yards for the touchdown for his fourth defensive score of the year and a spark for the Trojans.

Things continued to roll from that point on for the Trojans sailing to the win with a 70-yard punt return from Huss to put a bow on the game for Troy. Huss finished the game with 55 yards on six carries with two touchdowns on the ground for the second straight game, while scoring the touchdown on the punt return and recording seven tackles on defense and also intercepting a Lyndon two-point conversion attempt. Winder snagged six passes for 73 yards with a touchdown in the game to go with his 50-yard interception return score on defense and made two tackles in the win.

The duo has been part of a strong core that has led the Trojans all season to their 11-0 record and spot in the 2-1A Sub-State playoff contest against Pittsburg-Colgan. Huss on the year has surpassed 1,000 yards receiving with 16 touchdowns, while rushing for 330 yards with four touchdowns and on defense has nearly 50 tackles with four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Winder has amassed 902 yards receiving with 11 touchdowns with 40-plus tackles on defense, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and four defensive touchdowns.

Troy is led by a strong group with Huss and Winder both being key pieces this season and the Trojans look to continue that trend with their sights set on another playoff win as they host Pittsburg Colgan this Friday, and hope to return to the State Championship game in Hays.
