Riverside Cyclone, Scott Resler Racking Up the Victories On the Mats
Scott Resler

Victories on the mat have piled up this wrestling season for Riverside Cyclone junior, Scott Resler and that trend continued at the Albany Invitational this past weekend a competition in which the Cyclones won the tournament team title.

Resler helped lead the charge at the Albany Invitational as he was one of six Cyclones that earned individual first place finishes with his coming after a 5-0 day on the mats at 145lbs. The Riverside junior posted his 5-0 recorded by recording five pinfall wins dispatching the competition in 32 seconds in the first round, in 26 seconds in the second round, in 1:54 in the Quarterfinals, in 1:10 in the Semifinals and in the Championship bout won by pinfall in 3:59.

The tournament win at 145lbs is not the first for Resler this season it’s actually the fifth as he has won all five tournaments that he’s competed in so far this year and sits at 30-1 on the year. Scott’s lone loss of the season came in a tough bout with a #1 ranked Missouri wrestler who is a previous State champion.

Now in his third year wrestling in high school Resler has racked up the accomplishments as he is a third year captain, two-time Big Seven champ (sophomore and freshman year) and has qualified for State twice.

Resler is looking to continue he strong performance on the mats when the Cyclones hit the mats in Effingham on Saturday for the Big Seven League competition and then gear up for Regionals as he looks to qualify for State for the third straight year.
