Mitchell Henry

The Nemaha Central Thunder football team came into the 2017 season expected to be one of the top teams after last year’s performance and are ranked #1 in many polls and through the first two games the Thunder have looked the part.

Last week Nemaha Central improved to 2-0 on the season with a 55-14 win over Royal Valley on the road and several guys were at the forefront of the team’s success in the contest including senior, Mitchell Henry. Henry amassed 387 yards of total offense from the quarterback spot as he was efficient with his throws going 11-14 for 248 yards and three touchdowns and then provided the dual threat by running for 139 yards on 13 carries with three more visits to the endzone. The senior’s impact didn’t spot their as he tied for the most tackles in the game on defense with 10 and also had a pass defense in the win.

Henry made the move to quarterback this year full time after seeing plenty of playing time last year and Mitchell in two games for the Thunder has 304 yards passing on 13-16 completions with five touchdowns, while running the ball 20 times for 223 yards with five scores. On defense Henry has shown already why he was first team All-Big Seven League defensive back selection last year and has 15 tackles this season, a sack, forced fumble and pass defense.

The Thunder looking to continue to roll with Henry helping to lead the way as they have their sights set on another strong season that has postseason attached to it.
