Jacob Backus

Marysville Bulldogs track teams are off to a solid start this season and in the second meet of the year both the boys and girls teams took first place at the Valley Heights Invitational.

Leading the Marysville boys at the Valley Heights Invitational was the performance of junior, Jacob Backus who won two individual events posting a time of 11.91 in the 100 meter dash, while racing to a time of 43.36 to win the 300 meter hurdles. Individually he added a second place finish in the 200 meter dash (23.99) missing first place by just .01 seconds. Backus was also part of the Marysville 4x400 meter relay team that raced their way to first place with a time of 3:44.41.

Backus opened the track season back at the Silver Lake Invitational were he placed second in the 300 meter hurdles and also finished seventh in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

The Marysville junior looks to continue his momentum from the start of the track season and build up towards an opportunity to make a trip to State.
