Axtell's Buessing Shining on the Gridiron and Cross Country Course
Quinn Buessing

When you look at high school sports, there are a few things that are tough to do. One of those things is being a top athlete in not only one sport, but in two.

Axtell’s Quinn Buessing is just that, as the junior is in the midst of one of the top seasons on the football field the state of Kansas has ever seen while also dominating on the cross country scene as well.

On the football field Buessing is off to one of the most remarkable starts you could possibly have at the 8-man level. He has the Eagles off to a perfect 4-0 start and a No. 3 state ranking in 8-man-DII.

Buessing is in his third season at quarterback for the Eagles and off to a torrid start, as he as completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 891 yards, 24 touchdowns and zero interceptions. This past week he led the Eagles to a 54-6 blowout win over Pike Valley, throwing for 219 yards and six touchdowns.

Last season Buessing was named a first team all-Twin Valley League selection, throwing for 1788 yards and 27 touchdowns to just eight interceptions.

While Buessing has been one of the top quarterbacks in the state this season he has also been strong on the cross country scene.

This past week he won the Nemaha Central Invitational, taking the top spot in a time of 18:40.60 which was nearly 30 second faster than the next closest finisher.

Last season as a sophomore Buessing made it to the state meet and shined, taking 11th place with a time of 17:52.00.

Buessing will look to continue his success both on the gridiron and on the cross country course, with just a little over three weeks left in the season.
