Mound City Panther, Emily Wedlock Helps Team Dominate Panther Relays

There was no doubt at the end of the day this past Friday at the Panthers Relays as the Mound City Panthers took home the girls team crown behind 121 total points, 41.5 points better than second place on the day.

Panthers dominated the action on the day with a freshman, helping lead the way to the team title, while taking home four gold medals of her own.

Emily Wedlock put on a great performance winning three gold’s in running events and the other in the field competitions.

On the track, Wedlock partnered with her teammates in the 4x400 meter Relay and smoked the competition to the tune of a time of 4:25.10, over 18 seconds better than second place, to win the event.

Emily’s success continued at the Relays on the track with a sweep of the hurdles winning both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles titles. She took home the 300 meters by 2.5-plus seconds with a time of 50.04 and won the 100 with a time of 17.40.

The gold medals didn’t stop there for the freshman on the day’s action as she made sure she took home a field event title on top of her success on the track, winning the long jump. It was a leap of 15-3 that proved to be enough for Wedlock to grab the victory by .25 inches.

It was a beautiful spring day on Friday and the weather played right into the hands of spring sports and the Mound City Panthers made the best of it winning the Panthers Classic, behind a stellar performance courtesy of Emily Wedlock.
