Trent Mars

What a year it has been throughout Northeast Kansas with top performances each and every week across the MSC Sports Radio Network listening area and for our final athlete of the week for the year it goes to Centralia Panther Trent Mars.

Last week Mars competed at the Class 1A State Golf meet in Emporia and after weather forced the cancellation of day two action, he found himself at the top of the leaderboard giving him the individual state championship.

Mars shot 78 in his opening round to win by one shot and with his win helped Centralia take fourth as a team.

His 78 was his lowest score he posted this season, tying his mark from regionals in which he won by four strokes.

Mars also reached state two years ago taking 18th with an 86 which shows his improvement this year after the year off due to COVID.

The senior wraps up his career as one of the top golfers in the school’s history and ends on top with a 1A State Championship.
