Weber's Game-Winning Hit Lifts Troy to 2-1A State Softball Tournament
Emerson Weber

The Troy softball team has their sights set on a 2-1A State Championship as they’ll open play this week at the State Tournament in Pratt.

The Trojans had to go through a tough Regional last week to punch their ticket to Pratt.

Troy’s biggest hit all season long was by freshman Emerson Weber in the Regional Title game against McLouth.

In a 0-0 game in the bottom of the seventh against McLouth with a runner at second and two outs, Emerson lined a sharp single down the right field line which scored Paige Hinds and gave Troy the 1-0 win and sent them to the State Tournament.

Emerson had two of the three Troy hits in that game as she also added a double in the third inning. In the 12-2 win in the Regional Semi-Final against Riverside, Emerson tallied a 2 for 4 game with two singles, and RBI and two runs scored.

Emerson’s freshman season consisted of a .464 batting average with five doubles, a triple, and a home run with 20 RBI’s and 27 runs scored.

Troy opens the 2-1A State Tourney on Thursday night as the 2-seed with a record of 21-0 as they’ll play 7-seed Belle Plaine at 5:00 PM.
