Highland Lady Scotties TaMiya Green & Ryann Bowser Named All-Americans

It was a season to remember for the lady Scotties of Highland Community College as they made a run to the NJCAA Division II National basketball tournament and took home a fifth place finish.

Highland opened the tournament downing Chesapeake College (MD) 69-56 in the first round, then meet up with host Illinois Central in a game that proved to be a struggle back and forth. Scotties ultimately fell in the game 59-55, but responded in the next two to beat College of Rhode Island (71-47) and then take down Monroe College (NY), 72-57 to place fifth in this year's NJCAA Division II tournament.

Scotties capped off the tournament 3-1 and the season 30-6 with multiple highlights all season. The whole team provided highlights all season but sophomore, TaMiya Green and freshman, Ryann Bowser helped provide many of the highlights helping earn them All-American honors this season.

Green who averaged a double-double on the season, 13.3 ppg and 10.5 rpg earned first team All-American honors this season. TaMiya was the go to play in the paint for the Scotties and produced 18 double-doubles on the season and double-double's in three of the four National tournament games.

Bowser was a constant spark this season for the Scotties also with an all around stat line, 8.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.6 apg and 2.8 spg. That do it all mentality and play helped earn Ryann third team All-American honors this season. Ryann finished with a solid National tournament, also with great games against Chesapeake College (11 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast, 3 stl) and Monroe College (12 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl).

Both, Green and Bowser earned All-American honors for Highland as the Scotties team capped of one of the best years in school history, this past year.
