It was a rematch from January 9th and while the Nemaha girls completed a season sweep, the Holton boys avenged one of their losses and the Thunder and Wildcats are now even in the Big 7 League standings with two games to go.

GIRLS = Nemaha Central 40, Holton 23
Holton's only lead of the night was 2-0 as Nemaha scored the next 12 points and enlarged the lead to 26-11 at halftime.  The Cats poorous shooting continued with a three point third quarter and Nemaha coasted to their fourth straight win to pull even with the Cats at 10-4 in league play.  Holton had 23 turnovers and struggled offensively all night, thanks in large part to an aggressive Thunder defense.  Shay Tanking had 7 and Sarah Sweet 5 points to led the Cats as each girls hit a trifecta in the final quarter before Holton fell to 11-7 with their first loss in five games.

Nemaha got 16 points from Rachel Baumgartner who was the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company of Hiawatha "Player to Bank On," while Jaci Swart added 9 points as the Thunder rolled to a 13-5 mark with a season sweep of the Cats.

BOYS = Holton 68, Nemaha Central 58
It was senior night and the Wildcats dynamic guard tandem of Trey Tanking and Garett Beecher were ready to rock from the opening tip.  After falling down 5-0, Holton got hot in a hurry and took an 18-12 lead after one quarter before pushing the margin to 12 at halftime.  Beecher scored 20 points in the first half including 6 treys and Tanking added 16 points and knocked down 4 shots behind the arc.  The Wildcats led by at least 6 points the rest of the night and hit 15 of 20 free throws to help secure their fifth consecutive victory and improve to 12-6 on the season.  Beecher finished with 26 points and Tanking had 23 with play limited by leg cramps in the second half as both shared "Player to Bank On" honors from the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company of Hiawatha.

Nemaha had a nice advantage inside and got big nights from Luke Holthaus and Abe ELder with 17 points apiece.  Devin Henry added 13 before the Thunder dropped their second contest in a row and fell to 14-4 overall, while tied with Holton at 11-3 in the Big 7.

Nemaha will host league leading Sabetha on Tuesday night in Seneca with live coverage on KMZA 92.1 FM and www.mscsports.net then play ACCHS, while Holton travels to Hiawatha and Royal Valley next week to conclude the regular season.
