The Big Seven League enjoyed a solid season of competition on the softball field and one team remains alive in the postseason but for most the season has come to an end and the Big Seven League has handed out All-League honors.
League Champions the Royal Valley Panthers had five players earn first team All-League honors and one more earn honorable mention after a 19-2 season. Both Hannah Beam and Maggie Schuetz got the first team nod by unanimous selection at pitcher and catcher, while Jaycee Worrell was selected first team at outfield and both Sarah Beam and Leslie Schuetz at infield. Masey Lafferty got the honorable mention nod for All-League at outfield for the Panthers.
The Jeff West Tigers finished the regular season 17-4 and are set to play in the 4A-DII State tournament on Sunday in Topeka as they continue their season. Four lady Tigers earned first team All-League as Olivia Brees was selected first team by unanimous decision at pitcher, while Karli Fleischer got the nod at outfield, Kaileigh Wright at infield and Emma Broxterman at utility/designated hitter. Emily Brown earned honorable mention honors at infield for the Tigers, also.
Three Perry Lecompton Kaws earned first team All-League honors as the Kaws tallied a 14-7 record on the season. Sam Karten, Abbi Folks and Harleigh Robertson all earned first team All-League honors at catcher, infield and outfield, respectively.
Riverside was the only other team to have a first team All-League softball player in the Big Seven as Rayme Butts was selected by unanimous decision to the first team at utility/designated hitter. The Cyclones finished the year 8-13.
Four Holton Wildcats earned honorable mention All-League honors after the team finished 9-10 this year. Brianna Boyett, Alexandra Morris, Ashlyn Weilert and Mackenzie Moore all got the honorable mention nod at infield, infield, outfield and outfield, respectively.
Nemaha Central, ACCHS and Hiawatha all had one gal earn All-League honorable mention honors. The Thunder finished 5-12 this year and Brianna Delaney earned honorable mention honors at infield, while ACCHS posted a 4-14 record this year and Lauren Fedrick was named honorable mention All-League at catcher. Hiawatha struggled with a 0-17 record this year but did have Delaney Koeprich earn honorable mention All-League honors at utility/designated hitter.
