A trio of area teams all from different leagues continued their volleyball seasons at the Riley County Invite on Saturday and put forth solid performances. Holton Wildcats had the best area showing earning second, while Valley Heights finished fourth and Jefferson County North earned fifth. 

Pool play got the action rolling in Pool A it was a tough battle as three teams finished the pool with a 3-1 mark. St. Mary's won the pool over Holton and Chapman based on percentage of sets won and then Holton took second based on head-to-head win over Chapman. The Wildcats beat Chapman and Clay Center in three sets and lost to St. Mary's in three sets. Clay Center finished the pool 0-3. 

Pool B was controlled by Valley Heights as the Mustangs went 3-0 beating JCN and Mission Valley each in straight sets and topping the host Riley County in three sets. For JCN it was s 1-2 performance in pool play with their lone win coming against Mission Valley in straight sets. Riley County took second in the pool going 2-1, while Mission Valley was 0-3. 

After pool play the brackets were set in the winner's bracket Holton took on Valley Heights and the Wildcats won a tough three set showdown, while Riley County was victorious over St. Marys in straight sets. That set up the Championship and Riley County earned the win over Holton in a tight two set contest. In the third place matchup St. Marys topped Valley Heights in straight sets. 

The consolation bracket saw JCN fall in straight sets to Clay Center and Chapman beat Mission Valley. JCN then played for seventh place and ended the tournament with a straight set win over Mission Valley, while Chapman beat Clay Center in the fifth place match.
