On a drizzly cool Friday night, the Holton Wildcats saw their winning streak over Perry Lecompton which spanned over a decade, come to an end 46-0. Senior QB Dalton Kellum proved yet again he's the man for coach Mike Paramore's offensive attack. Coming off of a junior year accounting for over 2,700 yards of total offense, the Ssenior sparked the Kaw attack with a combined 300 total yards and three touchdowns.

Holton's offense sputtered from the first whistle to the last, gaining just over 150 total offensive yards in the game. Unable to get into an offensive rhythm, Holton's wishbone attack proved no match to the size and speed of the front seven of Perry-Lecompton. The Kaws continued to attack the middle of Holton's offensive line and “pinch” the outside to never allow Holton much of an opportunity to break open any plays.

With a second half of much the same, Kellum was replaced at quarterback by Billy Welch in the 4th quarter and they never missed a beat as Welch attributed over 45 rushing yards and two touchdowns. With a running clock over the last 8 minutes of the ballgame, the Wildcats tried one last time to get the ball inside Perry's 20 yard line, but fell just short as time expired.

Holton (0-2) will try to rebound next week as they host Nemaha Central (1-1) and look to avenge a three game skid against the Thunder (1-1) next Friday night. Catch the game live on The Holton Channel as well as on 92.1FM KMZA.

Perry Lecompton (2-0) will face their biggest test thus far as they head north to Sabetha (2-0) to face off against the reigning class 3A champion BlueJays. Last year, the Kaws fell to Sabetha in both matches including in the second round of the playoffs. The winner next week will have the inside track of claiming their stake as champion in the Big 7 League. Tune in on the Sabetha Channel for that coverage as well as KNZA 103.9 FM.
