The 84th Annual MUDECAS basketball tournament wrapped up in Beatrice Nebraska with the final day of boys action on Saturday, January 12th.
    The Johnson County Central Thunderbirds won the “A” Division championship with a 59-42 win over Pawnee City. The T-Birds are ranked 3rd in Class C2 with a 12-1 mark, Pawnee City is 5th in D1 with an 11-3 mark.
    Nate Kuhl led JCC in the title game with 22 points.  His 6”10” classmate Justin Damme hit three trey’s in the game and scored 11 of his 20 points in the third quarter.  Chase Grizzle led the Indians with 22 points.
    In the “B” Division title game the Southern Raiders knocked off Lourdes Central Catholic 35-27.
    Falls City Sacred Heart won the “A” Division 3rd place game with a hard fought 33-29 win over then C-2 top ranked Freeman.  The Irish are ranked 1st in D-2 at 12-2.
    In the “B” Division third place game it was Exeter-Milligan  over Johnson-Brock 53-47.
    Sacred Heart won the “A” Division girls title Friday night with a 35-25 win over Exeter-Milligan.  Sacred Heart scored the first 9 points of the game  and then blanked the Lady Timberwolves 11-0 in the final period to seal the win.
    In the “B” Division it was Lourdes Central Catholic over Johnson Count Central 50-27.
    Third place medals went home with Southern in the “A” Division with a 40-36 win over Sterling and Pawnee City in the “B” Division with a 50-30 win over Johnson-Brock.
