Wildcats Win Big at Rossville

It was another big night for the Holton rushing attack averaging more than 10 yards per carry as the Wildcats led from start to finish in a non-district game at Rossville in week six. Holton ran for 476 yards on just 27 carries and continue to avearge nearly 10 yards per carry as a team this season. 

Garyson Booth returned from a one-game absense and ran for 228 yards on 16 carries and scored three of his four touchdowns in the second half. Jace Boswell added 126 yards on 10 totes and had three rushing TDs in the first half as he played tailback for the second straight week with Holton still missing three key starters including a pair of senior runningbacks. Matthew Lierz added 63 yards and hit all six extra point kicks to improve to 33-33 on the season. 

Booth broke a 71-yard TD run on the third play of the game and the Cats never trailed. Rossville pulled within 14-10 midway through the second stanza before Holton scored 28 straight points while forcing a Bulldog three-and-out on three consecutive possessions. 

Holton only punted once and improved to 5-1 with their fifth win in a row and will return to district play with a huge home matchup of ranked teams when Hayden visits next week. 

Rossville ran for 194 yards with Camden Horak having 95 of those and also completing 19-26 passes for 166 yards. Trenton Barker was the top target with 6 receptions for 61 yards before the two-time defending 2A state champion Buldogs fell to 2-4 on the year. They have Pleasant Ridge and MH-MA to finish out district play in the regular season.
