Falls City Cross Country Teams Run Well at Fairbury

(KTNC)--Falls City Cross Country teams ran well at the Fairbury Invitational Thursday.
 The girls’ team finished 4th, with 65 points. Syracuse was the team champion with 29 points, Fairbury was second and Thayer Central third in team standings. Pawnee City didn’t record a team score.
 Individually, Falls City had two runners earn medals. Lainey Larsen placed 3rd in 22:59 and Krystal Samqua finished 16th in 24:16.
 Also for Falls City, Cheyenne Dovel placed 23rd, Morgan Roberts 28th, Mary Patnode 43rd, and Elizabeth Oliver 44th.
 
 On the boys’ side of the meet, Beatrice edged Syracuse for the team title, 33-34. Falls City had its best team showing in several years, finishing third with 66 points, ahead of McCool Junction and Thayer Central. Fairbury was 6th and Pawnee City 7th with 119 points.
 Individually, Falls City’s Kyle Leafty finished second, with a time of 18:10. Brandon Gibson was 21st, Brody Smith 22nd, and Anthony Baker 26th for the Tigers.
 
 Falls City’s Cross Country teams run next September 18th at Hiawatha.
